ROUGH WEEKEND

The Crush dropped two games over the weekend.  Friday the team traveled to face the Cincinnati Slam, losing 154-100.  Sunday the Crush fell to the Ohio Hidden Gems 138-115.  The Crush welcomed  four new players and felt the sting as players felt out each others games.  Newcomers Bill Sevchek and Andre Upshaw asserted themselves well in their debuts.  Calvin Swan (26 points) and Antonio Davis (31 points)carried most of the scoring load as the team worked to keep it together.

Sunday, the Crush and Hidden Gems were tied at 60 apiece heading into halftime.  A 19 point run to start the second half did the Crush in as they could not recover.  The next game for the Crush is Wednesday December 21st at the Armory.  This will mark the 3rd Toys for Tots game for the Crush as fans will be admitted free with the donation of a new or gently used toy.  Toys will be distributed through Secret Santa to area youth.

CRUSH DROP HOME OPENER

The Cambridge Crush dropped their home opener 152-123 against the Ohio Hidden Gems.  The Gems jumped on the Crush early and never looked back.  The Crush welcomed back veteran Will Bland (24 pts, 8 rebs) and some familiar veterans from seasons past.  Cory Doty continued his deep shooting (29 pts, 8-19 3-pointers).  Jonathan 'Duck' Battle and Sam Goddard were also brought back from the original Crush team in 2009.  GM David Moore on the veterans "These guys can always be counted on to fill in when needed.  Tonight, we didn't come with the energy or the execution necessary to beat a team like the Hidden Gems.  They are a talented bunch;  and small mistakes like not sprinting back on defense every time can lead to huge runs.  We'll get that tightened up and be ready to give the fans a better show next time."  The next home game for the Crush is December 10th at the Armory against the Ohio Kings of the UBA (Universal Basketball Association).

Crush drop 2nd straight

The Columbus Crush dropped their second straight game 103-98 at the hands of Seeyos Finest.  In a back-and-forth affair the Crush were unable to make that last needed run to pull off another nailbiter at the Armory.  Newcomers Zac Sowers (33 poinst) and Norm Plummer (28 points) led the Crush in scoring.  Head coach Travis McAvene on the loss "About midway through the season and we're still working out our identity and such.  With players coming and going, we need to find the right mix and get the guys to fully understand their roles.  Luckily, Zac and Norm have played at higher levels and can help some of our younger guys learn the ropes quickly."

The next home game for the Crush is January 29th at the Armory.  The team will be on the road for the next 2 weeks with dates against the Old Dominion Mustangs (January 15th), Southeast Hoop Stars (January 16th), and Dayton Air Force Base All Stars (January 21st).
